To make this mantle, a beam was sourced from a circa 1700s log barn that was destroyed by a tornado in Juniata PA. The beam was 10ft long by 10" deep and 9" high and weighed over 150 lbs.
It was cleaned, wirebrushed, sanded and finished to retain most of its original character. It was then back-cut and scribed to fit a stone fireplace wall, then blind-lag bolted into the stone.
